Charles Larry Wood, age 80, of Hooks, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1946, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Myrl and C.W. Wood.

Charles Larry Wood, age 80, of Hooks, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1946, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Myrl and C.W. Wood.
Larry spent his working years as a branch manager at First National Bank in Hughes Springs. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor and distinction. During his military service, Larry was awarded the Bronze Star for his courageous service. He was a faithful member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas.
Larry knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. He loved playing golf, a good game of gin rummy, and watching sports, especially college football. But perhaps what people will remember most was the way he made them feel. He had a gift for making people laugh, even when they needed it most. He was caring and wise, well respected by those around him, and always willing to offer a kind word, a helping hand, or a little humor to brighten someone’s day.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Myrl and C.W. Wood; and his sister, Marsha Hughs.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 44 years, Debbie Wood, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories. He is also survived by his children, Kristy Morgan, Mandy Allen, Chris Price and wife, Jessica; grandchildren, Ian Morgan, Conner Ray, Lauren Ray, Taylor Groves, and Tyler Groves; along with a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.
Though Larry is no longer with us, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the wisdom he passed along will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His memory will be carried forward in every story told, every laugh shared, and every life he made a little better simply by being a part of it. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home, with Dr. Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Larry’s service to his country.
