NEW BOSTON, Texas – A logging accident that happened at 4:20 p.m. yesterday that left a man dead has been ruled accidental.

Paul Doyle, 52, of Vivian, La., died after he stumbled and fell, said Capt. David Grable of the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department.

“He was a logger himself. And, apparently, he was walking along, stumbled, and the rear of a logging truck ran over him. It was an accident,” Capt. Grable said.

The accident took place at West Fraser Integrated Forestry Co., 1345 U.S. Highway 82.

“We are extremely saddened by the tragic accident on the site. Our thoughts are for the person’s family at this time,” said Tara Knight with communications at West Fraser.

“Investigations have been initiated by ourselves and the appropriate local authorities to understand the circumstances of this incident. However, it is not appropriate for us to release further details,” she said.
