Jereta "Jerri" Joyce Norton, age 72, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. She was born on August 24, 1953, in New Boston, Texas, to Dorothy and Clarence Smith.

Jerri devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed playing games, gardening, and planting flowers. She loved attending church and singing in the choir. Some of her happiest moments were spent fishing and swimming with her children and grandchildren.

Jerri loved with all her heart and never took a single moment for granted, even the simple joys in life. One of her favorite pastimes was watching The Golden Girls with her grandchildren. Almost every grandchild can remember having their own special “Golden Girls” session while sitting beside Meme in her bed. Those memories will be treasured forever.

She also enjoyed cooking for her family and decorating for the holidays, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and cherished traditions. Her kindness, devotion, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Tommy Norton; parents Dorothy and Clarence Smith; brothers Vernard Smith and John Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Camille Norton, Lori Brian and husband John of Texarkana, Texas; sons Mike Norton and wife Suzy of Texarkana, Texas, Jerod Norton and wife Kelli of New Boston, Texas; sister Marsha McKeehan Genoa, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren; numerus great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Brother Bill Stell officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapelwood Funeral Home.
