Barry G. Murdock, age 71, of Hooks, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026.
Born on February 14, 1955, in Texarkana, Barry was the son of Billy Joe and Laura Jean Murdock. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Murdock; his mother and stepfather, Jean and Charles Edwards; and his brother, Billy Murdock, Jr.
Barry shared 48 wonderful years with the love of his life, Patty Murdock. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and countless treasured memories. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Holly Sleek and her husband, Billy, and Amber Cannedy and her husband, Ray, all of Hooks, Texas. His greatest joy was being "Pepa" to his grandchildren, Ashton, Will, Madi, and Tatum, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Brenda Moore, and her husband, Jack.
Barry dedicated many years of service to both Texarkana College and the Texarkana, Arkansas School District. Outside of work, he found peace in the outdoors. Whether he was building something with his hands, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, traveling, relaxing on his houseboat, or spending time at the lake, Barry appreciated life's simple pleasures.
He also enjoyed grilling for family gatherings, cheering on his favorite sports teams, and making lasting memories with those he loved most. Barry never met a stranger, and his kind heart, quiet strength, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Above all else, he loved his family fiercely, and they were the center of his world.
Barry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering devotion to his family, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness. His legacy of love, laughter, and faithfulness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He loved his cats and dogs which he just built a castle for his new stray, Punkin, which actually found him. He was the best Dad and Husband!
