Linda Purifoy Moon

Linda Purifoy Moon, age 82, passed away on September 17, 2026, with her devoted husband by her side. Born on February 12, 1944, to Clark and Ermadene Purifoy, Linda lived a vibrant life centered on faith, family, and simple joys.

Linda retired after many years of dedicated service with the Ark-Tex Council of Governments. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she shared her gift in the church choir and at the piano, always grounded in deep, unwavering faith.

An outdoors enthusiast, Linda loved long car rides—especially with the top down in her convertible—and had a lifelong love of the water. She cherished beach trips to Destin, Florida, and Gulf Shores, Alabama, including special girls’ trips with her daughter, Monica. Rodney and Linda also enjoyed many memorable adventures alongside Linda’s sister-in-law and husband, Shelba and Mark Nicholson. In addition to the coast, Linda loved camping by rivers and lakes, often sleeping under the stars without a tent. A devoted animal lover, she never hesitated to care for any creature that crossed her path.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Rodney Moon; her daughter, Monica Evinger, and Monica’s friend, Scott; her sister-in-law and close friend, Shelba Nicholson, and husband, Mark, along with several nieces and nephews, as well as her neighbors, George and Alix Matteson, and their children, Worth, Thompson, and Aubrey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Ermadene Purifoy; her sister, Mary Baker; and her brother, Donald Purifoy.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Terri Gammage, her caregiver of eight years, for her extraordinary devotion and companionship, as well as her hospice nurse, Jane Sanderson, for her gentle care.
