Texarkana, Ark. Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her house Thursday. Police say she could have been dead for as long as 2 years.

Police believe the woman is 40-year-old Christy Himes.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, TAPD arrested Himes 63-year-old brother for an unrelated warrant who was the caregiver of Himes. Arkansas Adult Protective Services became aware of this and asked for assistance in conducting a welfare check on Christy Himes at their residence on Martha Street in Texarkana, AR on Thursday.

According to TAPD Lt. Zachary White upon arrival, TAPD developed information that led them to believe Himes may be deceased. A search warrant was obtained for two addresses on Martha Street, the caregiver’s current home, and a past home on the same block.

The search warrant revealed a decomposed body in one of the houses.

The body was too badly decomposed for a positive identification. The body has been sent off to the Arkansas Crime Lab to obtain information regarding the manner of death and positive identification.

TAPD is in the process of conducting a criminal investigation into the matter at this time.
