About 5,600 Texarkana residents were without electricity last night when bad weather rolled through the region.

“The peak for Texarkana outages was at 8 p.m. with 5,600 customers out of electricity. At 7:30 this morning, we had 1,158 out in Texarkana, and 30,000 still out in three states,” said Scott McLeod, with Corporate Communications with AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company, or SWEPCO.

“A strong storm system moved through SWEPCO’s three-state service area Wednesday night with winds up to 55 miles-per-hour. Damage was heavy throughout the state, with a peak of 69,000 outages at 9 p.m. last night,” he said.

“Hopefully, all downed lines have been identified and secured by now,” McLeod added.

About 1,040 Bowie County residents, 114 Cass County residents, and 828 Hempstead County SWEPCO customers are still without power this morning.
