Eagle Open House set for Feb. 18 at A&M-Texarkana

The spring 2017 Eagle Open House for prospective students and their family members is set for Saturday, Feb. 18, at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, 7101 University Avenue, Texarkana, Texas.

 

Always a popular event, this year’s theme is “Wanted: All Future Eagles.” Exhibit hall booths will be decorated with a western theme. Several hundred high school students and their family members are set to attend.

 

“There’s no better way to find out what Texas A&M University-Texarkana has to offer than attend our Eagle Open House,” said Edwin Lara, global recruitment specialist at A&M-Texarkana. “Tour our beautiful new campus and see our state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, meet our outstanding faculty and staff, and learn about our fully-accredited academic programs and numerous student activities.”

 

Registration is from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on the first floor of the University Center.

 

Following is the schedule of events:

 

10-10:15 a.m. – Welcome and Schedule Overview – Eagle Hall, University Center

 

10:20-11 a.m. – Breakout Session I

 

11-11:30 a.m. – Exhibit Hall

 

11:30 a.m.-12:10 p.m. – Financial Aid and Scholarships

 

12:10-12:50 p.m. – Lunch and Exhibit Hall

 

12:50-1:30 p.m. – Breakout Sessions II

 

1:30-2 p.m. – Exhibit Hall

 

2-2:30 p.m. – Door Prizes/Closing

 

2:30-3 p.m. – FAFSA Workshop/Residence Hall Tour

 

Faculty and staff will be available to visit with prospective students and their family members during three exhibit hall sessions.

 

Breakout sessions will focus on majors in the College of Education and Liberal Arts; College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics; and College of Business. There also will be campus tours and sessions on transferring to A&M-Texarkana, financial aid and scholarships, and student life and housing.

 

Each participant will have a customized itinerary for the day.
