Fire departments respond to multiple high water rescues

Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas Fire Departments were dispatched to multiple highwater calls around the Texarkana area directly after the heavy storms Sunday evening.

Texarkana, Texas Fire Department Quint 1 responded to a car stuck in high water with multiple adults and children in a vehicle under the railroad tracks in the 1000 block of W. 7th St.

According to radio traffic, police were blocking the roadway when the vehicle drove around a police cruiser into the high water.

Firefighters used the ladder on Quint 1 to reach the occupants of the car.  Multiple adults and a small child could be seen crossing the ladder to safety with the help of a firefighter.

No injuries were reported.

Multiple other Texas Fire units are scene under the Texas Viaduct conducting a high water rescue of two people reportedly trapped on the roof of a shed with water to their ankles.  TTFD has requested a boat from Liberty Eylau Volunteer Fire Department.
