New Town That Dreaded Sundown Available Via Video On Demand On Friday

The new Town That Dreaded Sundown will not be showing in theaters in Texarkana.

Orion will release The Town That Dreaded Sundown in select theaters and markets on October 16.

However, Texarkana residents can view the film starting Friday through Video On Demand (VOD) and Electronic Sell Through (EST) “with major cable, satellite and digital partners on [Friday] October 17 (including but not limited to Amazon, Vudu, Microsoft X-Box, Dish, Verizon, etc),” stated Kristin Cotich of Vice President, Communications with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios.

If you have an itch to watch the film in theaters, you will have a nice drive to Premiere Renaissance 20 in Houston TX or iPic in Fairview, TX (between Plano and McKinney).

Based on a terrifying true story, The Town That Dreaded Sundown picks up sixty-five years after a masked serial killer terrorized the small town of Texarkana, when the “moonlight murders” begin again. Is it a copycat or something even more sinister? A lonely high school girl, with dark secrets of her own, may be the key to catching the murderer. Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (“American Horror Story”), the screenplay is by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Carrie”), based on the 1976 cult classic film of the same title directed by Charles B. Pierce and is produced by Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (“The Paranormal Activity” franchise) and Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story”).  The film stars Addison Timlin (“Californication”), newcomer Travis Tope , Gary Cole (“Office Space”), Joshua Leonard (“The Blair Witch Project”) and Veronica Cartwright (“The Birds”).

According to Fangoria.com, the film will makes its TV premiere on Halloween weekend. “Playing as part of EPIX’s “Dreadfest” this Halloween weekend alongside its predecessor, THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN 2014 will see a World Television Premiere this Halloween night at 9:30 p.m., and play multiple times throughout the weekend thereafter,” stated Fangoria.com.
