Randy Sams Outreach Shelter Seeks Donations for Annual Thanksgiving Day Lunch, Winter Needs

Randy Sams Outreach Shelter is asking the community help provide its annual Thanksgiving Day lunch to homeless and less fortunate residents — and is also seeking donations to meet seasonal needs through the fall and winter months.

“We need your help with donations to provide our annual Thanksgiving Day lunch to area homeless and less fortunate!” the shelter said.

If you plan to donate any Thanksgiving meal items, please call Lori at 903-792-7024 to coordinate.

Donation drop-offs are accepted 24/7 at the shelter: 402 Oak St., Texarkana, TX. Monetary donations can be made via the flier QR code, at www.randysams.org, or by check mailed to 803 Spruce St., Texarkana, TX 75501.

Needed items:

Food — Thanksgiving meal: turkeys & hams; rolls; potatoes; gravy; cranberry sauce; dressing (cornbread & stuffing, pre-prepared); #10 cans of corn, green beans, fruit cocktails and pinto beans; onions & French dried onions; cream of mushroom soup; and pre-prepared casseroles (green bean, sweet potato, broccoli/rice/cheese, macaroni & cheese) and additional sides; salad & dressings; desserts.

Clothing: coats; sweatshirts/sweatpants; long sleeve shirts; pants; scarves; gloves; blankets; hats/beanies; hand/foot warmers; new men’s boxers; new women’s underwear; women’s bras.

Hygiene items: deodorant; shaving supplies; toothpaste; regular-size soap bars; travel-size toiletries.

Paper products: napkins & paper towels; rolled plastic silverware; disposable cups; paper plates; to-go containers; 45-55 gallon trash bags; hand sanitizer & masks.

Drinks: canned sodas; bottled water; sweet & unsweet tea.

Misc.: over-the-counter cold/flu medications.

The shelter said it appreciates the community’s help meeting the needs of the homeless this holiday and winter season.
