Liberty-Eylau ISD has been designated as a Platinum Member of the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle. According to the Comptroller’s office, the platinum designation spotlights entities that go above and beyond providing financial transparency in local government.

Liberty-Eylau ISD is one of 110 school districts statewide and one of seven in Region 8 to receive platinum designation. Other Region 8 districts receiving Platinum designation are Atlanta ISD, Daingerfield-Lonestar ISD, Hughes Springs ISD, Linden-Kildare ISD, Paris ISD, and Red Lick ISD.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs recognizes the diligence required for districts to be recognized as platinum. “Since we began the Leadership Circle program, an increasing number of local governments have worked hard to open their books to citizens in order to demystify finances,” Combs said. “We thought it was important to recognize local entities that take even more steps to give taxpayers easily accessible information they need to help them make informed decisions as well as ask questions of their local elected leaders.”

“Our office worked hard to create easily accessible financial information to the Liberty-Eylau community,” said LEISD Director of Accounting Laronda Graf. “Public confidence is very important. We pride ourselves with being conscientious stewards of taxpayer funds and trust. This award is recognition of a job well done.”

In order for a district to earn a platinum distinction several criteria must be met including:

Schools must post detailed summary information on their government website about current bonded debt and how it will be paid off.

Schools must provide a link on their website to the Comptroller’s website about transparency in government at www.texastransparency.org.

The superintendent must sign a pledge to post, to the district website, information about proposed bond packages and existing debt and provide the Comptroller’s office with a link to this information.

Awarded school districts have opened their books to the public to provide clear, consistent pictures of spending with detailed information on how tax dollars are allocated and spent. Platinum designees provide the information in an easily accessible, user-friendly format. Liberty-Eylau ISD’s financial transparency information is accessible on the district website at www.leisd.net under the business office tab entitled “Financial Transparency”.
