UAHT to offer Supply Chain Management courses this fall

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) will offer two courses in Supply Chain Management (SCM) this fall. The courses are designed to train individuals for entry-level positions in logistics, transportation and warehouse management. The (SCM) program prepares graduates in the responsibilities of managing goods from raw materials to
finished products ready for consumer use.

Introduction to Supply Chain Management will be offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this fall from 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. on both the Hope and Texarkana campus through CIV beginning August 26th and ending on October 18th. The course covers topics related to design and management of supply chains, from incoming raw material stage to the final product delivery stage and will also cover supply chain operations, distribution, and integration.

Logistics will be offered online from October 21 through December 4 and will cover the principles of logistics management of a firm, such as physical distribution activities in transportation, storage facility location, inventory control, materials handling, and warehousing.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the SCM career field is growing faster than average and has experienced a 7% growth, and the median salary across all fields of SCM was $38,640 in May 2018. “Local employers are searching for employees who have a working knowledge of principles of transportation, logistics, and inventory in a wide variety of sectors including retail, manufacturing, and defense,” said Rachel Parson, SCM Instructor.

The UAHT Supply Chain Management Program has three levels of degree. Students can earn a Certificate of Proficiency, Technical Certificate, and an Associate of Applied Science degree. The courses offered in the SCM program also consist of general education and general business courses and can be taken through a combination of on-campus, online and night classes.
