Worker Killed in Accident While Working on Galleria Oaks

Update 5:00 p.m.  Jose Andrade, a 61 year old construction crew worker, was killed today when he was struck by a backhoe attachment on a work site in the 3000 block of Moores Lane.

At 1p.m. TTPD officers were dispatched to the construction site on Moores Lane with information that a worker was trapped between a backhoe attachment and the tractor it was attached to. The initial investigation concluded that Andrade was standing behind the tractor when the backhoe swung around and struck him, killing him instantly.

A contractor working for the city of Texarkana, Texas on building the new part of Galleria Oaks died Tuesday afternoon.

According to radio transmissions the accident involved a back hoe.

According to Texarkana, Texas Public Information officer Lisa Thompson the man was pronounced dead on arrival.

Texarkana, Texas police forensic response team is on site investigating.
