Elene J. Chandler, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 17, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1943, in Saint Joe, Arkansas, to Maude and James Still.
Elene devoted her career to caring for others as a dedicated and compassionate licensed vocational nurse, serving alongside Dr. Yarborough, Dr. Hunter, and Dr. Floyd and Associates for many years. She was also employed with Southern Clinic in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Her caring nature extended beyond her profession, touching the lives of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Elene will be remembered for the many fond memories she created with those she loved. She was an amazing cook whose meals brought family and friends together, an avid reader who enjoyed books by many authors, and a woman whose wonderful sense of humor could light up any room. She had a strong-willed personality, never hesitated to tell you exactly what she was thinking, and was admired for her honesty and strength. In her spare time, she found great joy in working in her beautiful flowerbeds, tending to her plants, and spending time with the people she loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, L.F. Chandler, and her grandson, Kyle Hale.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Doug Hale of Texarkana, Arkansas; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Kim Chandler of Texarkana, Arkansas; her grandsons, Cody and wife Paige Hale and Colton Chandler; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Elene’s legacy of love, compassion, and devotion to her family and community will be remembered always.
