Harold John May, 86, of Hooks, Texas, passed away on July 16, 2026.
Harold was born on August 22, 1939, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Harold and Madelynn May.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Delores May; and his great-grandchild born sleeping Baby Stone.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Gates and her husband, Butler, of Shreveport, Louisiana; his son, John “Andy” May and his wife, Mary Kay, of Hooks, Texas; his grandchildren, Brooklynn and Brandon, Austin and Allissa, and Addison; his three great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Matthew, and Morgan; as well as his cherished best friend, Suzy.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army, was a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge, and dedicated 52 years of service to Day & Zimmerman. He took great pride in everything he did, especially caring for his yard. Harold enjoyed mowing his grass, keeping his truck meticulously detailed, and was known for his attention to detail and strong work ethic.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.
