Peter Michael Larey, age 50, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on January 2, 1976, in Pasadena, Texas, to James Reginald Larey and Linda Edwards Larey.

An avid fisherman and skilled bow hunter, Peter was a man of the outdoors in the truest sense. He often said that the woods where he felt closest to God — that was his church. He was also a gifted craftsman, carpenter, and fixer of all things, employed with Red River Lumber, where his talents found a natural home. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Economics from the University of North Texas, and his sharp, witty mind served him well throughout his life.

Peter was an old soul who collected vintage art, T-shirts, and guitars with the eye of someone who valued things that carry history. He never met a stranger. People gravitated toward him for his warmth, humor, and the rare gift of making everyone feel welcome. Through the peaks and valleys of his life, he remained deeply loving — present for his family in the ways that mattered most.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.D. and Helen Larey and Arnold and Marie Edwards.

He is survived by his children: Natalie Pettit, Rowan Larey, Johannah Larey, Fletcher Larey, Lorelei Larey, Ophelia Larey, and Corrina Larey; step-children, Jameson Key and Cannon Porterfield; his wife, Rene Larey; his mother, Linda Edwards Larey; his father, James Reginald Larey; and his siblings, Tim Larey of Traverse City, Michigan; Amy Bugh of Oak Point, Texas; and Matt Larey of Garland, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Texarkana Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Fouke Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Haven Home Texarkana in Peter’s memory. www.havenhomestexarkana.com
