Raymond C. Burdette

July 12, 1960 – September 14, 2026

Mr. Raymond Charles Burdette, 66, of Lewisville, Texas, formerly of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away in Lewisville, Texas on the evening of September 14, 2026. Mr. Burdette was a lifelong resident of Stamps, Arkansas and spent his formative years in the Stamps School District. He was a 1978 Stamps High School Yellowjacket graduate, where he played football and basketball. Most importantly, he was a Christian and member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in McKamie, Arkansas.

While in high school, he started working for the Alan White Furniture Company as an upholsterer, where he was continually employed for more than 30 years until the company closed its doors and relocated. While working for the company, he wanted to better himself, so he went to Texarkana College where he became certified in Quality Management Leadership. He married Ms. LaJuana Walker shortly after she graduated from Stamps High School in 1980, and from that marriage one child, Ashley, was born. LaJuana has continued to be a lifelong friend, even after their divorce.

He loved football and basketball, was an avid fisherman, and also loved shooting pool and playing corn hole. He loved jazz and frequented concerts listening to artists like the Crusaders, David Sanborn, George Benson, Grover Washington, Jr., and many more like them.

Raymond was born to the late Mr. Johnnie (Pete) Burdette and the late Ms. Jessie Mae Thompson on July 12, 1960. He was preceded in death by both parents; his aunt, Mrs. Icylene Sterling, who served as his guardian until he reached adulthood; and two brothers, Mr. Jimmy Burdette and Mr. Grover Davis, Jr.

He is survived by his only daughter, Ms. Ashley (Belen) Burdette of Oak Point, Texas; his brother, Jerry Thompson of Robinsburg, Germany; bonus siblings in and around the Stamps, Arkansas area; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates of the class of 1978, and former co-workers.

His service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas 71860, where Pastor Alvis Hamilton will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. There will be a public viewing at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Interment will be immediately following his service on Sunday at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Highway 53, South of Stamps, Arkansas in McKamie, Arkansas.

Masks are optional, but highly recommended.
