Rebecca Ann Epps, 76, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026. She was born on January 24, 1950, to C. D. and Martha Stiles of Clarksville, Texas.

Known to generations of students as “Mrs. Epps,” Rebecca devoted 35 years to teaching and made education her life’s work. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1972 and a Master of Education from East Texas State University in 1975. Her students fondly remember the bathtub filled with books in her classroom—a memorable reflection of her love of reading and her creativity as a teacher. Her dedication to education continued long after her retirement, as she kept helping others learn.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is a direct descendant of those who founded the great state of Texas.

She also belonged to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, the National Society Magna Charta Dames, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dedrick Stiles; and her husband, Roy Dean Epps.

She is survived by her three sons: Troy Dedrick Epps of Hooks, Texas; Joshua Stiles Epps and his wife, Stacy, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Brandon Alec Epps of Conway, Arkansas. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Tanner Dedrick Epps, Madison Epps, Leanna Epps Bunting, Hunter Dean Epps, Brooklyn Epps, Gracie Ann Epps, Rowe Epps, and Samuel Epps.

Rebecca leaves a lasting legacy in her family and in the many students whose lives she touched. The classroom memories they carry are a tribute to the care and imagination she brought to teaching.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel on Texas Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Rebecca’s lifelong commitment to education and heritage with a donation to the Texarkana Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) scholarship fund or to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas
