Ronald Wayne Springer, age 77, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at home.

Ronald Wayne Springer, age 77, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at home.

Ronald was born on July 26, 1948, to Christine Autrey Springer and Carl Springer.

Ronald was a man who truly loved the beach at Galveston, Corpus Christi, and the Padre Islands, where he enjoyed surf fishing and creating lasting memories with his family. Known affectionately as “Captain Ron,” a nickname given to him by friends and family, he carried the title with dignity throughout his life. Ronald will be remembered as a hardworking and devoted family man who consistently placed the needs of his loved ones above his own. Dependable, quiet, and gifted with a wonderful sense of humor, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He and his beloved wife, Sissy Springer, were the retired owners of Springer’s Smokehouse in Texarkana, Texas. This family business prospered and became well known throughout the surrounding communities.

Ronald proudly served his country as a veteran of the Army National Guard, a reflection of his dedication, responsibility, and commitment to others.

Ronald is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Sissy Springer; his parents, Carl and Christine Springer; one brother, Carl Turner Springer, Jr; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Yates.

He is survived by his brother, Rick Springer; three daughters, Chrissy Yates and her husband, Kyle of Maud, Texas; Michelle Springer and wife Rachell of Genoa, Arkansas; and Heather Nalepa of Texarkana, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Bryan Briley, Sondre Sass and husband, Eric, Cory Yates, Steven Yates, Cassie Yates, Kristen Springer, Kylie Springer, Cole Springer, Peighton Springer, and Gavin Nalepa nine great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with Pastor Jeff Hart officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30-11:00 AM on June 13, 2026.
